Tax reduction thus sets off a process that can bring gains for everyone, gains won by marshalling resources that would otherwise stand idle—workers without jobs and farm and factory capacity without markets. Miracles


I know, I've completely abandoned this blog. I've had a really rough summer since the morning sickness set it. We've also had collapsed ceilings, broken coolers, kids starting school, broken computers, and I've been really, really tired. I won't promise that posting here or on my other blogs will resume, but I couldn't miss today.

This past year has been discouraging for all Americans. We've watched a lot of political unrest. Even in you agree with the destruction of the principles of this country's founding, it's impossible not to see the rift between different thinking Americans is growing. We truly are becoming less united.

That's why I have decided to talk about something completely different of this anniversary of 9/11. The political landscape is a mess, but the people of this great country are strong. I saw this video a couple days ago and was definitely moved by it. My message to you today is simple: Sometimes free agency gives us immense pain. Because people have been given this great gift by our creator, it is often used to hurt others. But, despite his insistence on letting us remain free, the hand of God is still evident in our lives if we choose to look for it. I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES.

Time for a Laugh


Sometimes journalists just make my day. Sometimes, it's the anonymous commenters who say it better than the professional writers. Today I want to share something that made me smile.

I was reading an article about President Obama's getting furious with his aides over news of the oil spill. According to The Washington Post:

"Since the oil rig exploded, the White House has tried to project a posture that is unflappable and in command.

"But to those tasked with keeping the president apprised of the disaster, Obama's clenched jaw is becoming an increasingly familiar sight. During one of those sessions in the Oval Office the first week after the spill, a president who rarely vents his frustration cut his aides short, according to one who was there.

"'Plug the damn hole,' Obama told them."

But, that's not what amused me. I was glad I had read the article just because of the first reader comment which mused, "I bet the CEO of BP just slapped himself on the forehead and said, why didn't i think of that???"

The Beginning of the End


"The trend is not sustainable, says University of Michigan economist Donald Grimes. Reason: The federal government depends on private wages to generate income taxes to pay for its ever-more-expensive programs. Government-generated income is taxed at lower rates or not at all, he says. 'This is really important,' Grimes says."

This quote is from a USAToday article about how private income has shrunk to all-time lows and government handouts have reached record levels. As I pointed out in my last post, our way of life is being destroyed.

What the people who argue for these government programs don't realize is that the wealthy give money to the poor. They do it through creating jobs, either directly, or by creating demand for the work that the rest of us do. When you demonize wealth and demand that the government redistribute it, you destroy the expansion of the economy.

As Margaret Thatcher pointed out, "The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

Christie for President


Every time the federal government has passed a tax increase on the "wealthy" government revenue has GONE DOWN. This is because sucking the money that could have been used for investment, job creation and other expansions of the economy out of the private sector and stuffing it into the black hole of government does not help anyone. What was President Obama's response to this fact? "redistribution as a matter of fairness." In other words, these taxes are to make everyone poor, so no one is better than anyone else, regardless of how hard they work. You can read more on that here.

The question is, do they not realize that by stealing money from the private sector, they are also hurting the poor? I don't think they care.

The Great Lie of Healthcare


I've told you before that this entire premise of insuring the uninsured to lower healthcare costs is a lie. My own congressman sent me a letter telling me that the uninsured don't get primary care and then end up in the emergency room. This costs us all tons of money. Having a husband in the major emergency room, the one the congressman cited, I knew this for the lie it was. He is constantly bombarded by demanding, entitled patients who don't care what their visit costs because they are insured, usually with medicaid. But, I don't believe in using anecdotal evidence to argue in favor of universal positions. That's why I always seek to find studies and evidence. I have pointed out in the past that when Massachusetts universalized coverage, ER visits went up.

Today, I have an even more telling study. Do the uninsured go to the Emergency Room more than those of us with insurance?

What else did the study find? Those with government insurance are much more likely to have multiple ER visits in a year than those with private insurance. You mean that those of us responsible for ourselves don't go to the ER for non-emergencies? That's so odd. Who would have ever considered that old fashioned accountability would matter. Well, who, besides those of use still independent and responsible? Take heart! There are some of us left. (Well, actually right-but we're here)

So what's going to end up happening here? More people, the same doctors. Well, at least we have job security. This might not be so comforting to those of you that don't have a doctor in your home. We have recently been told by the CBO that this health care law will cost much more than originally stated. We know that insurance companies and businesses are going to be hit hard by the new regulation, resulting in more fees and less jobs. Now we find out that the "cost lowering" factor is a lie. Is there anything that congress told us that was true?

To The Young

There is a young woman I work with who likes to talk about being a liberal. I think her purported ideals actually have more to do with the rhetoric she’s been fed about being compassionate. She truly believes these distortions, to the point that she has even claimed that Nancy Pelosi is her hero. Unfortunately, I do not have the right to explain the truth to her. She’s not my daughter. I would object to other adults forcing politics on my children. But the emotions I have felt from loving her and loving my country are somewhat overwhelming. This post is for her. She won’t read it, but I need to say it anyway.

Let’s start out by saying that I know how intelligent you are. I know how frustrating it is when you get to the point in your life when you realize that your analytical abilities have gone beyond the place where you need to obey your parents. It’s not just a matter of rebellion. It is a matter of really knowing that those in authority cannot understand your perspective. It’s a matter of doing what is right for yourself and following your head instead of the hearts of those who love you. I have noticed how you avoid controversy because you do not enjoy confrontation and you are so certain of what you believe that you are not open to hearing what you consider to be parroted, insincere arguments that don’t actually counter your own convictions.

Because I understand all of this, I will not attempt to argue with you or try to change your mind by means of debate. You have had that and you are done with it. I will simply explain to you what is in my heart. You see, as I have watched the destruction of my country over the past year, you have been the saddest part for me. It’s not a matter of the progressive leadership. They know what they are doing. They are unapologetic and deviant. They are the foe that I can take on head first. They are the enemies of freedom and the destroyers of America…and they KNOW it.

You, on the other hand, aren’t selling principles for politics. You honestly believe in something and just happen to believe that the government is the only vehicle for achieving your beliefs. You are ignorant of back room politics, the trade off between freedom and security, and the prowess of power. You want to help people. You do not realize that freedom is the best way to help. You desire something more hands on. You don't see how vicious and hateful politicians truly are or the dangers of allowing them to trade favors for votes and power. You don't understand the corruption.

I know I cannot change your mind. I know that your naivety of the hatefulness of politics has to do with your good nature and your kind heart. I know because I have been there myself. I just wanted to do what was right and good and kind. Somehow, I don’t want to shatter your world view, even if I could. It’s nice to believe that there are no bad guys, just different perspectives.

Unfortunately, you cannot remain in this state of not understanding forever. The weak minded can stay in this state, but you cannot. Someday soon, your perspective is going to have to mature and one of two things is going to happen. Either you are going to see that “helping the poor” is really just “stealing the resources of the wealthy to keep the poor enslaved” and become an advocate of liberty, or you will follow the ideologues down the path where your politics will completely destroy your principles. You will find yourself making excuses for talking away people’s choices and soon you will be mired in the idea that you are superior to everyone else and must protect them from themselves. It’s an idea that was parroted by every tyrant in history.

I wish I could make you understand. But, I can’t. I have to let you have the same liberty I am defending for everyone. Since I can’t make you see the path ahead of you, I will simply have to keep loving you and praying that you will see the truth in the end.

I just want to state my support for Senator Jim Bunning. Thank goodness someone is willing to stand up for responsibility. I’m sad he’s not running for reelection. I would donate to his campaign. We've become so demanding and entitled as a society. It has to end before the financial collapse of our country.

A Very Interesting Article

My favorite part was:

I saw Jordan's dad around, but he never wanted to be involved in his life, which didn't bother me as I didn't want a relationship with him anyway...Now Jordan is getting older, I am tempted to go out again and have a one-night stand to get pregnant again. In fact, being a single mum all over again is something I am seriously considering as I would love another baby."

Consider how destroying the natural system of choice and accountability has ruined the entire concept of morality, of which industry is a vital element.

Happy Valentine's Day

To all the people I love:

I just wanted to tell you that I love you. I appreciate all you do and I am thankful to Heavenly Father for the chance I be had to be a part of your life. Of course, I loved you yesterday and I will love you tomorrow. But yesterday I was doing laundry and dishes and tomorrow I’ll be buying groceries. It’s not that I don’t want you to know that I love you every day. I am grateful to have a day set aside to remember and celebrate all the people I love.

I feel like I have been surrounded by a barrage of people telling me what a horrible, commercialized holiday Valentine’s Day is. Ironically, the most frequently cited argument for this contention is that we should show our love everyday, not just on holidays. It seems like the people who feel this way ought to love Valentine’s Day the most. After all, it’s the people who think about Jesus everyday that love to celebrate his birth at Christmas. I pray in gratitude every night for my beautiful children. That is why I am so glad they have a birthday once a year where I can set aside the everyday struggles and simply celebrate their births. I am disturbed by all the people who think being ornery and feeling pestered by a holiday meant to honor the people we love is a better expression of love then being excited at the opportunity to set aside the mundane. I was even more disturbed to open up foxnews.com this morning and find a story about why everyone hates this holiday. Valentine’s Day is not about flowers and chocolates. Think about it as an opportunity to reflect on all the people who wish they had someone to celebrate with, rather than feeling bothered that you’re expected to say “I love you.” Remember how lucky and blessed you are to have love. And remember, as always, that I love you.

The Death of a Tyrant


Two days ago, something big happened for anyone with kids.

A little background...In 1989 a major British medical journal published and article with linked the MMR shot with autism in children. This study involved 12 children (hardly a valid sample size). Since that time 10 of the 13 authors have admitted that there were major flaws with the science. Despite the fact that the results have not been repeated, people like Oprah and Jenny McCarthy have spread the paranoia. Several children have died in measles outbreaks after concerned parents refused immunization.

Two days ago, The Lancet (the medical journal) formally revoked the study, admitting that it was wrong. Too little, too late, perhaps, (and certainly no comfort to the parents of the victims) but truth always wins in the end.

The irony of the tax increase

This video goes on and on about spending, before the part I want you to see. So, sit tight and watch it anyway. I have written about this before. When taxes go up, revenue goes down. It's the great lie of the liberal. They want to take from the rich to help the poor, but the increase in taxes functionally hurts both the rich and the poor. This is historically proven, so we have to wonder, what is their goal?

I'm not wondering. While on the campaign trial, Obama was asked about this fact. He said, "I would tax the rich as a matter of fairness." Since this is not elevating the poor, he simply wants to punish the rich. It destroys wealth and hurts everyone. It's the destruction of the American economy. Poor people don't create jobs, either by consumption or industry. Still, they try to spread the poverty around.

Congress shall make no law...


I’ve been very interested in the things happening in our political world the last few weeks. I simply felt that there wasn’t much I could add to the discussion. I rejoiced in the people of Massachusetts deciding to attempt to restore the balance of power. I was pleased to see that we were provided with an opportunity to show that we would not be ignored.

Today I want to address that balance of power. There were two things in the President’s State of the Union speech that caught my attention. These two things caused me to take a few minutes to stare at my children and wonder what I could do to protect them. Here is a quote:

“Now, yesterday, the Senate blocked a bill that would have created this commission. So I'll issue an executive order that will allow us to go forward, because I refuse to pass this problem on to another generation of Americans.”

Doesn’t it make your breath catch? It should. Scott Brown has not been seated. This means that the President’s party still has a super majority in the senate. But when they disagree with what he wants, he simply goes around them. They wouldn’t pass cap and trade, so he had the EPA declare the gas exhaled by all animals is a poison. He wanted the power to regulate. He is trying to destroy the system of checks and balances that prevents tyranny within our country.

The other thing that froze me to the core in his speech was a complaint about the recent Supreme Court decision that struck down laws preventing companies from contributing to political campaigns. President Obama said, "With all due deference to the separation of powers the court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the floodgates for special interests -- including foreign corporations -- to spend without limit in our elections."

President Obama, what does “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech” mean to you? Who, you may ask, would determine whether a book should be banned in the name of silencing those companies before an election? THE GOVERNMENT. So, basically, the Supreme Court decided to take the power to silence corporations away from a sitting government during an election.

My gosh. What are they trying to do? Does anyone read the constitution any more?

The quandary of health care costs


A lot of people fundamentally misunderstand the health care debate. Last month, my husband overheard a nurse bemoaning the horrible fact that Texas has a high rate of uninsured. It’s so sad that we have been so overwhelmed by the “common sense” argument that this is somehow an atrocious thing that we didn’t stop to consider the reality.

In fact, if we are truly regretting the high price of medical care, the answer is to get rid of insurance altogether. I am not suggesting that we do this. I believe in the free market and if people find it worthwhile to purchase health care for their families, they should be allowed to. But the fact remains that the idea of more coverage lowering costs is ludicrous.

Consider this: A woman walked into my husband’s ER last month. She claimed to be having abdominal pain. He examined her, did the necessary tests and discovered that she was in good health. So, he asked her if there was anything else he needed to know. She responded, “I had unprotected sex last weekend and I want you to test me for STD’s.”

Nate answered, “I can do that, but it’s very expensive in the emergency room. If you go to a clinic, it will save you a lot of money.”

She replied, “I don’t care about that. I’m on Medicaid. Do the tests here.”

We have, in essence, a woman who came to the emergency room to get tested for STD’s. Why? Because of insurance.

I get so angry when I hear people saying, “We need universal coverage because people neglect to get primary care and then they end up in the ER and it costs a lot more.” My local congressman had the gall to send this ludicrous argument in a tax-payer funded news letter.

Listen very carefully…When the state of Massachusetts implemented mandatory medical insurance, emergency room visits went UP. This is because people with insurance become more demanding, wanting tests they don’t need. They also don’t care what you’re charging them. They take less responsibility for their own health because the healthcare coverage means they don’t have to. They are fine with name brand drugs. They refuse to see nurse practitioners. They don’t care what it costs. Would you bother shopping for discounts at the grocery store if you had food insurance that only required a co pay on your part? You would probably fill the cart as full as it could go, whether you needed it or not.

If you want health care costs to go down, more insurance is the opposite of what we need. If you want the cost of ANYTHING to go down, more government is, likewise, the opposite of what we need.

When are we going to figure out the simplest fact of all (the one our grandparents knew all too well): The solution to almost every problem is personal responsibility.

Bad Choices=Good Outcome


Anyone who knows me at all has heard me say that the real problem with the society we’re creating is that it destroys the God-created system of choice and accountability. The natural law is very simple: “If you do something dumb, bad things happen. If you do something good, good things happen.” All of a sudden, however, we are rewarding people for bad choices. Our version of morality isn’t something we made up. It was as simple as your decisions determining the outcome. We were able to see clearly that the good things we did lead to positive outcomes. That is now being destroyed.


This concept is also being played out in the heath care debacle. I read an article today that showed how, in both the Senate and House bills, the cost of insurance will increase the moment a couple gets married. Nice. Our government is giving yet another incentive for people to destroy the sacred family.

Dumb things people say to amuse me: Margaret Sanger


This special, historical edition is dedicated to the largest abortion center in the United States being opened in Houston on January 18th. This quote is from Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood (who sponsored the new center).

"As an advocate of Birth Control, I wish to take advantage of the present opportunity to point out that the unbalance between the birth rate of the "unfit" and the "fit", admittedly the greatest present menace to civilization, can never be rectified by the inauguration of a cradle competition between these two classes. In this matter, the example of the inferior classes, the fertility of the feeble-minded, the mentally defective, the poverty-stricken classes, should not be held up for emulation to the mentally and physically fit though less fertile parents of the educated and well-to-do classes. On the contrary, the most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective."

What a mission statement! Ms. Sanger, of course, saw herself as fit to procreate.
