The Root of All Evil...

...Pizza

You know, society has to have some standards. When the people are forced to deal with filth that degrades the integrity of their moral values, it is the government's job to step in and say, "We don't allow that kind of disgusting display in our community." This was why I was so pleased to hear that Washington D.C. council member is stepping up to remove the bane of society. Jim Graham recognizes the fact that there would be no crime if there was no pizza. He realizes that a carb-infested crust topped with fatty cheese and, all too often, some disgusting meat product disguised by acidic tomato mush (although mouth-wateringly delicious) is "trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for pizza."

Mr. Graham says that these perfectly legal businesses cause crime and "have become a nuisance." DON'T WORRY, EVERYONE! He's already spoken with the mayor AND he's drafting legislation.

Heaven save us from idiots and state legislators. Perhaps the government would like to take over the food-service industry next? I, for one, think a hamburger would be much better if I had to fill out 76 forms, provide both a primary and secondary ID, provide proof of having purchased french fries and pay 14 different fees before I could get one. Better yet, perhaps they will appoint a committee to study the feasibility of offering a dollar menu. We could vote them a tax-hike to pay for the committee and then we would know for sure our burgers are ephedrine-free.

Delicious.

I'll Say it in Spanish...

Okay folks, today I have to register my little boy for kindergarten, attend my older son's wellness walk, do some shopping, go to a church meeting, and teach a bunch of teenage girls how to roast hot dogs. I'd like to try to make you all feel better about the lies, damn lies and politics going on in this country, but I'd rather spend my 3.76 minutes of free time watching my three-year-old paint the kitchen with mashed bananas (literally). Don't feel bad that I had a better offer, though. Stephen Colbert is available. I really enjoyed the first half of this video. You can watch the whole thing if you like. He days some really dumb things, but remember, "He who gets offended when no offense is intended is a fool. He who gets offended when offense is intended is probably a fool."

He Said/She Said

David Feherty said, “Despite how the conflict (in Iraq) has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.”

Wanda Sykes said: “I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight…Rush Limbaugh — I hope the country fails. I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a waterboarding, that’s what he needs.”

What’s the difference? David Feherty was condemned by the media until he apologized. Wanda Sykes got a belly laugh from the President of the United States and a lot of hits on you tube.

Since this blog is dedicated to destroying ignorance, though, let’s clear this up for Ms. Sykes. Rush Limbaugh does not want this country to fail. President Obama, in a speech for his 100th day in office said that he is “remaking America.” Seriously? Isn’t that like the quintessential bad guy quote? “Then I will remake this world in my own glorious image! (evil laugh)”

There are a lot of people who think America was better before the “remaking” began. There are a lot of people who hope the remaking fails so that America can survive. When you wish death to these people, you wish death to the greatest country in history. You wish death to free speech. I do not. Both Wanda and David are welcome to make their jokes. I think that's what Rush wanted to preserve.

Go Have a Picnic or Something, Seriously.

They’re slaughtering pigs around the world. Retailers are cashing in on the paranoia by selling everything from designer masks and emergency kits to fake vaccines and bogus advice. They’re closing down high school sports. Graduations are being cancelled and rescheduled. New York has cancelled Cinco de Mayo. Sixteen thousand American students are out of school. Hong Kong has quarantined a hotel and all of its guests. At my husband’s work, they are opening a second “emergency room” just for people who aren’t sick. AND Joe Biden won’t let his family ride the subway. (I’m guessing a private jet is okay, though?)

This is pretty serious. I would really love to write a serious post today, but I just don’t want to. Please see my posts from the previous week to truly understand why you shouldn’t be panicking. Today, we’re going to take a look at the horrible creature creating the paranoia.

Have a wonderful Saturday. Please go out and enjoy the day with your family. Staring at a computer is no way to live.

Change You Can Believe In

Perhaps this is what President Obama meant by his campaign promises. I wonder what the bank fees are like?

The Rhetoric of Fools

I think it's time for me to abandon my home and start running for public office. I have had enough of the idiots running this country. It's getting to the point where turning on the computer to read the news is a little like watching a train wreck. It sickens me to watch it, but I can't turn away.

So, here's what I've decided: I love my kids and want the best possible world for them. Because of that, I feel that my superior intellect is being wasted with the menial tasks I dedicate myself to. It's time to fulfill my true destiny and save this world from itself.

Would you like to hear my platform?

1.The news stations are corrupted by a liberal bias. The world will never choose to be fair to the conservative audience until equality is legislated. It's not about freedom of speech. It's about freedom of opportunity for all points of view.

2.The education system in this country is awful. It's been proven time after time that textbooks are liberally skewed. I want every textbook to be evaluated by a panel of government appointed experts. Anyone wishing to write a new textbook must seek approval from the panel.

3.I believe in free enterprise but it is being destroyed by lack of competition. I think business licenses should only be given to people who can prove that they are intelligent enough to make their business worth running. Any business currently in existence should have to justify its business model to experts on capitalism.

4.I am tired of the voting system being destroyed by people too ignorant to understand the path they're paving for my children. In order to vote in this country, you should have to pass an IQ test.

If you people won't embrace freedom because it's right, I will take your hand. If you resist, I will push you. If you refuse to be pushed, I will find ways to legislate your ideas out of existence. One way or another, I will ensure liberty for my children.

Whether or not you enjoyed this article, you might be amused by this one. I can't help but relish the creativity these people are capable of. But check it out today! The fun won't be here tomorrow...

Members of the Moral Community

From the Associated Press:

CANBERRA, Australia — When a dark intruder smashed through his bedroom window and repeatedly bounced on his bed, Beat Ettlin was initially relieved to discover it was a kangaroo.

"My initial thought when I was half awake was: it's a lunatic ninja coming through the window," the 42-year-old told The Associated Press on Monday. "It seems about as likely as a kangaroo breaking in."

But his relief was short-lived. Moments later, he heard his 10-year-old son Leighton Beman scream from bed: "There's a 'roo in my room!"

"I thought: This can be really dangerous for the whole family now," Ettlin said.

The extraordinary ordeal for the family of four began at 2 a.m. Sunday in their house in the upmarket Canberra suburb of Garran.

Ettlin, a chef originally from the Swiss city of Stans, wrestled the thrashing and bleeding 90 pound marsupial out the front door.

The kangaroo vanished into a nearby forest from where it likely came. The family reported the intrusion to police and to wildlife authorities.

And the story continues (as written by me):

Police set up a perimeter around the forest and shouted for Mr. Kangaroo to come out with his hands up. It is likely that the animal misunderstood (due to dialect differences), because police had to wrestle him to the ground. All of the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the excessive use of force is investigated. The Canberra Police chief defended their actions explaining, “This is a very dangerous kangaroo who willfully attacked a family in their home. My men didn’t know the motivation behind the attack, but they had every reason to believe that Mr. Kangaroo was armed, unstable and very dangerous.”

Mr. Kangaroo’s public defender is skeptical of the police motivation. He said, “Mr. Kangaroo is a victim of circumstance. We have reason to believe that he was slipped a bad fungi while grazing at a popular meadow. He clearly thought the victim’s house was his own. Furthermore, it’s simply ridiculous for the police to argue there was any aggression in Mr. Kangaroo smashing through a bedroom window. In his culture, that’s a perfectly acceptable form of entry. None of this would have happened had we not stolen this land from the kangaroos in the first place. I am suggesting that my client countersue in a court officiated by kangaroos. These people had no right to build a house on land that belonged to another species.”

Experts are watching this case closely because it resembles the now infamous case of the man who defamed the culture of apes by insensitively claiming that, “Congress is nothing but a group of apes grunting at each other.” He was, of course, turned over to the apes by our legislature and brought up on charges in an ape court. That case has been going on for 23 years now, owing to the difficulty of determining whether the judge is the one reporters have titled "the scratcher" or the one reporters have dubbed "the screamer." Although the tide of that argument is turning, (One prominent reporter recently said, "There are good indications its the screamer. I mean, he beats his chest a lot, so we wonder if that's not a way of passing sentence) experts are not optimistic that there will be much of a precedent set.

Animal rights activists hope that the show of fairness by the government will result in a more tolerant society where breaking through people’s windows is understood to be the olive branch that it clearly is.

WHY I AM WRITING THIS:

1) Because I think I’m funny.

2) Yesterday I was idly flipping through Costco’s magazine, “The Costco Connection,” when I came upon this headline, “Should animals have the same rights as people?” It included this, very interesting line, “Animal rights advocates say that…animals should no longer be regarded as property, or used as food, clothing, research subjects, or entertainment, but should instead be viewed as legal persons and members of the moral community.” (emphasis added)

Seriously? I could not believe that this was an honest to goodness argument among intelligent people! Look, either we’re animals or we’re people. If we’re animals then everything we do is based on instinct and the law of the jungle. If we’re people then we’re capable of rational thought and planning. But, who knows? After all, we could generate all kinds of new jobs by giving kangaroos lawyers, social workers, and senators. It could just be a creative new way of gerrymandering. ("I'm sorry the census is taking a lot longer this year, Mr President. There is some evidence that the Republicans have padded the data on the number of mosquitoes living in certain red states.") Wait a minute…I may have just uncovered an evil plot! This blog might be on hiatus for a bit while I flee the country.

This is Funny!

I watched quite a few of the CPAC speeches with my husband. Frankly, we got a little bored. There was a lot of politics being thrown around and not a lot of practicality. I was interested to watch Rush Limbaugh since various new organizations were touting his speech as brilliantly whipping up the conservative base. We watched about half of it. Quite frankly, I think too much time in radio has ruined this man as a speaker. He seemed to have very little direction and too much repetition. This is not a comment on his widely varied points; it's just that he could have done with a little less impromptu and a little more preparation. As is, he didn't say much of anything in the part of the speech we watched. Romney did a good job, although his style is a little too practice polished for my taste. I actually thought that Ron Paul was the best speaker, despite being controversial even at CPAC.

Ann Coulter was different. I expected a very serious speech about the direction of the country from her. What I got was 25 minutes of stand up comedy. Well, it just so happens that I like comedy...A LOT. So, I am posting her speech here in hopes of sharing a few smiles.Don't take it too seriously and you might find yourself in a better mood all day.

I couldn't find it in one video, so if you want to see the whole thing, you're going to have to watch all three shows posted below in order.

Just for Smiles

Okay, I promised to keep this blog positive. Because of that, I do try to ignore much of the political scene because it is so negative. As everyone knows by now, Tom Daschle recently withdrew his name after Obama nominated him as Secretary of the Health and Human Services Department. There have now been three cabinet nominees who have faced tough criticism because they were caught cheating on taxes. Tom Daschle is my favorite, though, because the whole situation is so hilarious. How did he cheat on his taxes? He didn't pay them on a limo and driver given to him by his employer. Why does that make me laugh so hard I can't see straight? Check out this real campaign ad from the 80's...

That's not all folks, 1998 Mr. Daschle gave a passionate speech on the senate floor during which he said, "Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter."

Okay, if that didn't brighten your day, then I don't know what's wrong with you. Politics can be fun!
